| What
We Do... Special Holiday Assistance... Coats For Kids |
For
the past 14 years, radio stations owned by Cumulus Broadcasting
and WLUK-TV Fox 11 have united to help make sure that needy children
in the area have warm coats for the winter. Last year, The Salvation
Army in Green Bay distributed more than 6,000 kids for children
ranging from infants to 18 years of age.
Beginning in
late August, the broadcasting stations promote a collection drive
for gently used coats in all sizes. Large coats that fit adults
are accepted for teens.
Many area businesses
help by hosting a collection box and the cleaners throughout the
area act as both collection host and cleaner of coats that need
it. FOX 11 and Cumulus representatives and Salvation Army volunteers
also help to collect coats and cash donations each fall at a designated
Green Bay Packer home game.
Parents can
sign up for coats for their children during the holiday interviewing
process. A single day of distribution is held for the parents to
bring their children by appointment and select the right size coat.
Coats that
are left over from the day of distribution are sent to our Family
Thrift Store. Adults who are in need of winter coats can apply for
assistance through a voucher system to select a coat from the store. |
