Each
year, several days of Holiday Interviewing are announced early in
the fall and begin in October. These sessions are held directly
at the Corps Community Center at 626 Union Court, Green Bay. Many
volunteers participate in the interviewing process, which is an
established procedure developed and monitored by staff and Advisory
Board members.
Those requesting
assistance are asked for their address and telephone number. They
are asked to provide information about their monthly household income
and the number of people in the household. If they request gifts
for children, birth certificates or other verification are required.
At that time, they are given appointment days/times in December
when they can pick up the holiday items they will receive.
Two “Distribution
Days” are set for the week prior to Christmas. In recent years,
these mass distributions have been held at ShopKo Hall. More than
1,000 volunteers help out with set-up, distribution and clean-up
for these busy days when an average of 3,200 families send representatives
to pick up the toys and food being provided. |
