Us... Letter from Fred Darling |
Dear Friends,
Throughout 2006,
we have had the wonderful opportunity to witness many accomplishments
that helped The Salvation Army continue to serve those who are less
fortunate in Brown County. As we reflect back on the past year,
we remember that the work of our ministries could not be achieved
without countless hours contributed by volunteers, staff and the
community.
Just a few of
the many accomplishments include:
| - Offering
assistance of food, clothing and shelter to Brown County residents
who are facing difficult times. In 2006, more than 20,000 people
received help from The Salvation Army. It is support from the
greater Green Bay community that makes it possible to improve
the lives of others. |
| |
| I applaud
The Salvation Army staff for their hard work and determination
all year round. Their dedication and commitment is apparent
by the lives touched and the work that is accomplished. |
| |
| - The Salvation
Army of Brown County has received the once-in-a-lifetime grant
for the proposed Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.
Approval of the application means the Green Bay project will
receive a $30 million grant to construct and operate the community
center. |
| |
| The Salvation
Army and community leaders have worked with a number of community
groups to make this project a reality. We would like to thank
everyone for their hard work, which was essential to the approval
of the project. Final preparations are being completed and we
expect to break ground in the fall of 2007. |
| |
| - We also
have seen another successful Christmas season. During the 2006
Christmas Kettle Campaign, The Salvation Army successfully achieved
their annual projected goal and raised more than $925,000 which
will help fund programs for the next year. These donations will
continue to help people in need throughout Brown County. |
There have been
so many community organizations, churches, companies and individuals
that teamed together to aid their neighbors of Brown County. The
Salvation Army is truly blessed to be surrounded by such a great
community. We thank you for your support, and look forward to your
continued dedication.
Fred Darling,
Chairman
The Salvation Army Advisory Board
