The Salvation Army will be the beneficiary of the upcoming Matthews Tire Oil Change for the Better event held at all Matthews locations July 15-20, 2013.

Oil Change for the Better is a continuing community event established by Matthews Tire to benefit local charities. During the event $5 from every oil change performed at Matthews will be donated to charity. The event is held at all six Matthews locations and benefitting charities—such as The Salvation Army—are selected via online vote by Matthews Tire Facebook fans.

According to Matthews Tire General Manager Trevor Rezner, “We are happy to help raise money for an organization like The Salvation Army, one that does so much good for so many in our communities. We encourage everyone to come in for an oil change and help us support their work.”

The Salvation Army has been supporting those in need for more than 130 years in the US. Nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year. Services include: providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. 82 cents of every dollar The Salvation Army spends is used to support those services in 5,000 communities nationwide.

“We are thrilled to work with Matthews Tire and the Oil Change for the Better event to provide change and hope for those most in need in our community”, says Captain Ken Shiels, Brown County Coordinator for The Salvation Army of Brown County. “This event is a great lead-in to our Christmas in July campaign running July 22 through July 27.”

Matthews Tire is a locally owned tire and automotive service provider with locations in Fond du Lac, Menasha, Appleton—both east and west, Green Bay, and Waupaca. The last Oil Change for the Better event raised $2500 for Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin.
