Back to School Store - Service League provides The Salvation Army with 150 slots in its annual Back to School Store. The store is for children in kindergarten (age 5 by September 1) through 5th grade. Children going through the store receive a first day of school outfit, a backpack and school supplies. To be eligible for the Back to School Store, families must be Brown County residents, low-income and regularly receive services from The Salvation Army. The informational flyer on Back to School Store will be available for families to pick up at The Salvation Army, 626 Union Court, Green Bay in the month of May and will advise parents as to how they can request services.

Tools for School - This program occurs annually in August at The Salvation Army. Tools for School provides school supplies for children in kindergarten (must be 5 by September 1) through 12th grade. Information on Tools for School is available beginning in July by calling (920) 593-2379. Parents will be instructed when to call in and provide information on numbers and grade levels of children. Parents sign up and receive their children’s school supplies the same day. Availability of supplies depends on the donations received from the community, local businesses, and churches. Families must be Brown County residents and low income.

Coats for Kids - Families can sign up for Coats for Kids in the fall. Coat distribution is in mid-November. One child in each family receives a new coat and the other children receive gently used coats. Information on when to sign up and what documents to bring to the sign up is available beginning in September by calling (920) 497-7053 and requesting the holiday assistance information line.

Christmas Assistance (general) - Families can sign up for Christmas Assistance in late fall. Each child will be eligible for a book, 1 or 2 toys and the family will be eligible for a food basket. Information on when to sign up and what documents to bring to the sign up is available beginning in September by calling (920) 497-7053 and requesting the holiday assistance information line.

Food Baskets - Seniors and individuals without children are eligible for food baskets for Christmas. The food baskets usually contain meat, pasta or potatoes, bread/rolls, canned goods, and milk to make a holiday meal. Information on when to sign up and what documents to bring to the sign up is available beginning is September by calling (920) 497-7053 and requesting the holiday assistance information line.

Adopt A Family - A diverse collection of local corporations and Green Bay area families choose to anonymously “adopt” families in need during the holidays. The Salvation Army collaborates with over 10 agencies who refer the families who would benefit from the Adopt-A-Family Program. The Salvation Army matches the adopter and the adoptee and distributes the complete “Christmas Package” before Christmas.

Silver Bells - Seniors and disabled adults who are alone at Christmas or who may not receive gifts are referred to The Salvation Army by local agencies. The Salvation Army works with several local businesses and Bay Park Square Mall to provide Silver Bell Trees. The bells are selected by a donor who purchases the gifts. The referring agencies and The Salvation Army wrap the gifts and deliver them to the individuals in time for Christmas.

Senior Community Christmas Meal - This is a free meal for seniors 50 and older which is sponsored by Schreiber Foods. The Christmas dinner is held in the gymnasium at The Salvation Army at 626 Union Ct. the first Saturday of December. Schreiber Foods provides volunteers to help serve a catered meal to our older adults of Brown County. Tickets are made available sometime in November. Entertainment follows the dinner.

Caring Community Ministries - Officers and volunteers visit several nursing homes in Brown County sharing the message of our Savior Jesus Christ’s birth at Christmas and distribute gifts to the residents. At Easter they visit and share the good news of our Savior’s Resurrection.

All of these Seasonal Assistance programs exist due to the generosity of the Brown County community. It is through donations from individuals, churches, businesses and foundations that we are able to offer this assistance to individuals and families in need. The Salvation Army is deeply thankful for the many partners who help us make these programs possible and to the many volunteers who assist us in the registration and distributions for these programs.
