For many years,
one special giving tree has helped special seniors and disabled
individuals feel the love of others at Christmas.
The Silver Bells
Tree, hosted by Bay Park Square Mall, has approximately 200 tags
on it when it is first displayed in November. Each tag contains
the name of a senior who has been identified by Salvation Army staff
and a suggestion for a gift that matches the particular need of
the individual represented by the tag.
Like other giving
trees, shoppers select these tags, purchase a gift and return the
wrapped item to The Salvation Army by a requested date. Volunteers
and staff then deliver these gifts to the individual’s home
a few days before Christmas, spending a few minutes of fellowship
and love with the senior.
